Orthopaedic Surgery Coordinator Specialist

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Orthopaedic Surgery Coordinator to join our team at Wabash General Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and analyzing clinical data, collaborating with medical staff to prepare patients and families for surgery, and providing continuity of care following evaluation for surgery and between inpatient admissions and outpatient visits.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Pre-Surgical Preparation: Obtain medical and social histories, order tests through delegated protocols, and educate patients and families regarding all aspects of surgical care in relation to their condition.
  2. Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with 3rd party payers regarding issues of medical necessity and benefits for their clients, and collaborate with medical faculty, medical staff, nursing personnel, and other health disciplines to facilitate meeting patient and family needs.
  3. Continuity of Care: Provide for continuity of care following evaluation for surgery and between inpatient admissions and outpatient visits, and provide telephone consultation and follow-up to support patients and their families.
  4. Requirements:
    1. Current RN license in IL.
    2. 2 years of recent clinical nursing experience.
    3. Current BLS certification.

Requirements: The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to recognize patient problems and symptoms, apply appropriate medical interventions and protocols, and interpret these to physicians and health professionals involved in the care with the patient and family.
