Job Title: Research Interventionist - Financial Counselor

The University of Florida College of Nursing is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented part-time Research Interventionist - Financial Counselor to join our team for a large behavioral clinical trial focused on the management of chronic pain in older adults.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participant Interaction and Monitoring:
    • Deliver and monitor weekly interventions (in-person or virtually) to ensure participant engagement and adherence to the study protocol.
    • Monitor smartwatch data for ecological momentary assessments and interventions, ensuring proper function and data transmission.
    • Develop and provide financial resources to participants to support their financial well-being.
    • Maintain participant blinding to ensure the integrity of the study.
  • Data Management:
    • Collect and enter data into management systems to ensure accurate and timely data collection.
    • Ensure compliance with IRB protocols and regulations to maintain the integrity of the study.
    • Resolve technical issues related to data collection and transmission to minimize data loss and ensure study continuity.
  • Operational Support:
    • Prepare study materials and manage participant screening, consent, scheduling, communication, follow-up, and compensation to ensure a smooth study process.
    • Assist with workflow at GNV and JAX sites to ensure efficient study operations.
    • Participate in weekly lab meetings to discuss study progress and address any challenges or concerns.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Support community outreach and activities to engage with potential participants and promote the study.
    • Recruit and retain participants to ensure a diverse and representative study population.
    • Serve as a liaison to community-based organizations to build partnerships and promote the study.
    • Participate in problem-solving activities to adjust recruitment and retention strategies as needed.
  • Training and Compliance:
    • Follow IRB-approved protocols and regulations to ensure the integrity of the study.
    • Train new research assistants to ensure they are equipped to perform their roles effectively.
    • Promote human participant protections throughout the research process to ensure the well-being of participants.
  • Publication and Presentation:
    • Assist with the publication of research findings to share the study's results with the academic community.
    • Prepare presentations for conferences and meetings to share the study's findings and promote the University of Florida College of Nursing's research.

Expected Salary: $43.35/hourly

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in allied health, economics, public health, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education, clinical, and research experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • EDUCATION & TRAINING: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in allied health, economics, public health, or a related field.
  • EXPERIENCE: Experience as a research assistant or community health educator in research, clinical trials, and/or academic medical settings.
  • KNOWLEDGE: Familiarity with regulations surrounding research participant recruitment, including human-subject protection, health studies, and Institutional Review Boards.
  • SKILLS: Demonstrated expertise in clinical trials management systems, survey tools such as REDCap, and computer systems applications, including Word for Windows, TEAMS, Excel, SPSS, Endnote, Zoom.
  • ABILITIES: Excellent organization, timeliness to meet deadlines, strong communications skills, attention to detail, outcomes-driven, committed to learning, respectful, and professional.

Physical Qualifications: Able to carry small boxes and transport study supplies between locations.

Other Qualifications: Culturally sensitive to working with Black/African American communities.
