Job Title: Principal Project Engineer

Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly experienced Principal Project Engineer to lead the modernization of our VLF communications capabilities. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for shaping the business strategy, leading integrated product teams, and overseeing the execution of technical trade studies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a seasoned team of Systems, Software, Mechanical, Electrical, and Specialty Engineers in support of VLF communications development efforts
  • Provide technical leadership to proposal and business development efforts, establishing technical, schedule, and cost baselines for additional follow-on business
  • Plan, participate-in, and oversee production efforts with local and remote manufacturing and operations teams
  • Plan, participate-in, and oversee hardware and software integration efforts at customer sites, including deployment, validation, and verification against requirements
Requirements:
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience
  • Active and transferable U.S. Government issued security clearance is required prior to start date; U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Experience with hardware & software design life cycle experience to include DoD airborne platform integration
  • Proven experience and understanding of Aerospace engineering design and analysis review/release process
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross functional project teams and managing performance against tight budget and schedule requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with both agile and waterfall hardware & software design and development
  • Demonstrated leadership and success in the design and test of integrated systems
  • Experience navigating competing priorities, delivering the highest level of engagement and delivering successful outcomes in critical situations
  • Prior Control Account Manager (CAM) or Earned Value Management System (EVMS) experience
