Medical Assistant Professional

Job Summary:
The Medical Assistant Certified will assist healthcare providers and teams in delivering exceptional patient care by performing various clerical and patient-related tasks. Duties may include injections, vital sign measurements, rooming and patient flow management, pre-visit preparation, assisting with patient visits, post-visit duties, and informing providers of schedule changes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greets patients promptly and prepares them for exams while maintaining timely patient flow.
- Obtains and records vital signs according to department protocols or guidelines in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Takes patient medical history and reason for visit, accurately documenting it in the EMR to maintain a complete and legally correct medical record.
- Administers injections and medications as directed by providers.
- Assists in procedures and minor emergencies within the Medical Assistant Certified scope of practice.
- Schedules lab tests, x-rays, and other tests as directed by providers.
- Provides follow-up lab results and callbacks to patients as delegated.
- Maintains clean exam rooms, cleans instruments, and stocks items for use in exam and procedure rooms.
- Remains up-to-date on Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Accredited Medical Assisting program graduate or enrolled in an externship program.
- Active Medical Assistant Interim (IC) or Medical Assistant - Certified (CM) license through the Washington State Department of Health by start date.

Working Conditions:
This role requires working at a workstation and in patient exam rooms with limited space. The job involves close collaboration with others and may require irregular hours, including overtime. General supervision is provided by the Practice Manager, with additional guidance from providers.
