We are seeking a skilled Senior Analytics Specialist to join our team at the Idaho National Laboratory. As a key member of our Digital Twin Frameworks department, you will work on developing and applying advanced analytics techniques to drive business value and improve operational performance.

About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity for a highly motivated individual with expertise in data science, machine learning, and software development. You will work closely with our team of scientists and engineers to design and implement analytical solutions that address complex problems in various domains. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Analyzing large datasets to identify trends and insights using advanced statistical methods and machine learning algorithms.
  • Developing and testing software-based analytical tools to operationalize those algorithms, leveraging artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other techniques.
  • Adapting machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies to solve scientific problems and extract new insights from scientific data.
  • Collaborating with domain experts to understand the scope and limits of questions that can be answered by data sets and design output metrics that elegantly describe system attributes and behavior.
  • Employing specialized methods and state-of-the-art data analysis and modeling tools to support the INL's mission by ensuring the nation's safe, and sustainable use of engineered systems in many domains.
  • Following INL policies and lab-wide procedures related to software development, cybersecurity, and management of sensitive information.
  • Working with data providers, database administrators, and software developers to diagnose and resolve issues with data and software systems quickly and effectively.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, and software development.
  • Expertise in programming languages such as Python, R, or Julia, and proficiency in SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms and edge computing architectures.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, characterization, and communication principles.
  • Familiarity with Explainable Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML), Large language models (LLMs), physics-informed machine learning process-informed Machine Learning, systems performance analysis, and data sensor fusion methodologies.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • The ability to maintain notebooks, software, and applications, and work with software and database developers to develop, test, and deploy software code to development, staging and production environments.

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive salary range of $115,000-$145,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. Additionally, we provide a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement savings plan, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
