About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Compute Infrastructure SRE team at LinkedIn. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for building and managing the next-generation infrastructure and platforms for LinkedIn.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, architect, and develop Kubernetes controllers, operators, and control plane components to automate cluster management tasks.
  • Scale Kubernetes clusters to meet LinkedIn's compute requirements.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers in best practices for Kubernetes development and operations.
  • Provide technical leadership and drive best engineering practices to initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross-functional, and company-wide critical infrastructure programs.
  • Contribute to Kubernetes open-source projects and collaborate with the community.
  • Enhance the observability and availability of underlying systems.
  • Diagnose technical problems, debug in production environments, and automate routine tasks.
Requirements
  • BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and managing production systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in managing and scaling Kubernetes infrastructure.
  • 4+ years of industry experience in software design, development, and algorithm-related solutions.
  • 4+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, C/C++, C#, Objective-C, Ruby, etc.
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 7+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 4+ years of relevant work experience.
  • Extensive experience in architecting, building, and running distributed large-scale Kubernetes-based systems in production.
  • Proficiency in Kubernetes controller development and automating cluster management.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Contributions to open-source projects, especially in the Kubernetes ecosystem.

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The pay range for this role is $147,000 - $240,000. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications, and specific office location.
