Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Optometrist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente's Falls Church Medical Center. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for examining patients with a full range of visual problems, diagnosing visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribing treatment as licensed and credited.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams to diagnose and treat various eye conditions.
  • Prescribe and fit contact lenses to patients with vision problems.
  • Determine visual requirements of partially sighted patients and prescribe low-vision aids.
  • Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology.
  • Consult with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology on patient care issues.
  • Participate in departmental and educational meetings, including peer review activities.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
  • Optometrist License (Maryland) OR Optometrist License (Virginia) OR Optometrist License (District of Columbia).
  • Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment.
  • Accredited residency in Optometry.

Low vision preferred. Rotating Saturdays (1 Sat per month). Will require travel to all NOVA optometry centers based on business need.
