Job Description and Position Requirements

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and developing complex sensor systems for various government agencies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop sensor systems using traditional systems and software engineering techniques.
  • Apply modeling and simulation methodologies to optimize system performance.
  • Collaborate with engineers to deliver complex sensor systems.
  • Work with entry to senior level engineers on a daily basis.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or LABVIEW.
  • Experience with computer programming in C / C++ / Python.
  • Basic electronic test equipment setup and operation.
Preferred Skills:
  • PCB layout in multi-layer boards using Altium.
  • RF experience a plus.
  • Solidworks.
  • Producing technical documentation related to the design and building of complex systems.
  • LINUX and Windows OS systems.
  • Embedded systems to include FPGAs, microcontrollers, and similar entities.
  • Active government security clearance.

The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $120,000 per year, depending on education and experience.
