As a medical professional in an affiliated medical practice, provides medical services to patients in an assigned area.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
- Coordinates discharge planning with Case Manager for admitted patients.
- Documents patient care performed, assessments made, and orders given.
- Recommends, participates in, and actively works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness of care provided to patients throughout the organization.
- Accepts patient referrals from other physicians.
- Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
- Develops and oversees the patient care plan in connection with entire clinical care team.
- Works to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care, in a timely, effective, service-oriented manner.
- Provides care in the context of promoting age- and culture-appropriate informed choices, shared decision-making, and the right to self-determination.
- Minimum Education: Doctor of Medicine, or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine
- Required Skills: Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Licenses: Licensed by the NC Medical Board
- Certifications: BLS - which follows American Heart Association guidelines is the minimal certification. Must attain within 30 days and maintain thereafter. ACLS is acceptable in lieu of BLS.
- Ability to lift and move at least 40 pounds.
- Ability to see colors.
- Ability to hear and distinguish sound, to check BP.
- Ability to reach overhead and grasp objects.
- Ability to remain calm, continue to function effectively and develop priorities during stressful situations.
- Ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal media.
- Ability to move and operate equipment.
- Manual dexterity adequate to keypunch data on a keyboard.
