Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team in a detention setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong clinical background and be able to provide comprehensive care to patients in a unique and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide acute, emergent, and chronic healthcare to patients in compliance with IHSC policy and guidance
  • Perform comprehensive history and physical evaluations, behavioral health care, and minor outpatient surgical procedures as required
  • Consult with staff physician, clinical director, and/or IHSC consultants as required
  • Interpret Tuberculin skin tests and diagnostic studies, manage Direct Observation Therapy for treatment of active or latent tuberculosis
  • Take appropriate infection control actions in accordance with IHSC policy and guidance
Requirements
  • Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program or Family Nurse Practitioner program
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Board Certification by NCCPA, AANC, or AANP
  • Unrestricted license to prescribe controlled medications from the DEA and in the state where the duty station is located
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association, CPR certification through the American Red Cross, or the American Safety and Health Institute
