Job Description:

**Job Summary:**
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will provide direct patient/resident care and supportive services to nursing unit and health care provider team under registered nurse supervision.

**Responsibilities:**

* Provide bedside patient/resident care and perform nursing assistant procedures
* Stock supplies and maintain equipment
* Perform routine housekeeping duties as needed
* Transport patients/residents as necessary
* Document care and procedures performed using basic computer skills

**Activities of Daily Living:**
Assists or performs Activities of Daily Living (i.e. bathing, toileting, eating, dressing, grooming, etc.) for the patients/residents of the facility. Changes bed linen and assists with transferring residents from bed to chair, chair to bed and turning and repositioning of the patient/resident while in bed.

**Observation and Reporting:**
Observes and reports the presence of pressure areas and skin breakdown to prevent decubitus ulcers. Reports accident, incidents, injuries, and/or skin tears to nurse supervisor/charge nurse.

**Vital Signs:**
Measures and records blood pressure, heart rate, respirations, temperature and informs the RN/nurse supervisor/charge nurse if not within normal limits for the patient/resident.

**Additional Responsibilities:**
Performs blood glucose monitoring if required per department expectations. Performs clerical functions within the unit to include answering phones/call lights, inputting orders into the computer, supply ordering, etc.

**Requirements:**

* High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Certificate (GED or HISET) or confirmation of three years of experience in hospital/medical setting
* Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the appropriate state (TN or VA) required
* AHA BLS is required for direct patient care provider
