Job Summary

This position is responsible for the preparation, cooking, and service of meals and food items for the residents of the New Mexico State Veterans Home. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a long-term care facility and possess strong culinary skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meals according to set menus and recipes
• Take-in food deliveries from vendors and inventory food items
• Conduct and assist meal service to residents
• Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Experience working in a long-term care facility
• Strong culinary skills and knowledge of food preparation and presentation
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Valid driver's license and Defensive Driving Course Certificate
• Safe Food Handling Certificate

Working Conditions

This position will perform work in a kitchen setting with exposure to high and low temperatures. The incumbent may be exposed to contagious viruses and diseases, as well as physical and/or verbal abuse. Occasional travel for training and meetings may be required.

Supplemental Information

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement and all terms/conditions of that agreement apply and must be adhered to.
