Assembler Job Description

S&C Electric Company is seeking a skilled Assembler to join our team in Palatine. As an Assembler, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble Mark V circuit-switchers and TR-II switches, ranging in size from 6' x 10' x 10' to 15' x 15' x 15'
  • Identify, transport, install, mount, and bolt all switch components, weighing from 5 lbs. to over 100 lbs.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical inspections using torque wrenches, screwdrivers, tape measures, and test consoles.
  • Use simple material handling equipment, hand tools, power tools, gauges, and instruments, as well as overhead cranes.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate knowledge of mechanical assembly operations and the ability to use air impact tools and other hand-held tools.
  • Ability to use shop math and measuring tools, such as tape measures.
  • Ability to follow specific instructions and procedures and read assembly prints.
  • Soldering experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable with frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable with standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and bending.
