Key Responsibilities

As a Laboratory Technician, your role will encompass:

  • Conducting and reporting on routine and specialized laboratory tests on clinical specimens to assist in patient diagnosis and monitoring.
  • Identifying abnormalities or diseases and documenting findings in the laboratory information system.
  • Performing blood tests for transfusion compatibility and executing complete blood counts.
  • Examining stained cells to detect abnormalities.
  • Setting up, maintaining, calibrating, and testing the sterility of laboratory equipment.
  • Analyzing test results to ensure compliance with established specifications, utilizing specialized mechanical and electrical devices.
  • Documenting and interpreting test data to generate comprehensive reports that include charts, graphs, and narratives.
  • Collaborating with pathologists to confirm diagnoses when abnormal cells are detected.
  • Preparing standard volumetric solutions and reagents according to established protocols.
  • Inoculating media with organisms for microbiological analysis.
  • Collecting blood or tissue samples while adhering to aseptic techniques.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
  • State-required Clinical Lab Scientist license/certification.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
