Job Description:

As a Senior Electrical Systems Specialist, you will provide electrical maintenance and technical support to the customer under limited supervision. Your expertise will be utilized to troubleshoot, repair, and test various electrical systems and equipment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots, disassembles, repairs, assembles, and tests automatic bus transfer (ABT) devices, collecting, holding and transfer (CHT) system motors, controllers, and associated control circuits.
  • Tests electrical systems or continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures, using testing devices, such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system.
  • Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, or components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Inspects electrical systems, equipment, or components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Prepares sketches or follows blueprints to determine the location of wiring or equipment and to ensure conformance to building and safety codes.
  • Conducts research and provides drawings, technical manual information, design specifications, and engineering technical recommendations.
  • Assists ships force with obtaining supply and repair parts information as required.
  • Performs the necessary out briefs to ship's force representatives including ship's officers and supporting personnel as well as briefs to customer management.

Job Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years' experience repairing, upgrading and performing condition assessments, performing diagnostic inspections and fault isolation on a variety Navy shipboard electrical systems; including but not limited to ship power distribution systems, equipment control systems, electrical operators, indicating and order systems, lighting distribution systems, motors, controllers and generator
  • Must have Hi/Lo voltage experience.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow detailed written instructions, or drawings and to conduct activities in a safe manner.
  • Ability to make decisions using sound judgment while complying with policies, procedure appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DDG-1000 experience preferred
  • Associates in technical degree or military experience preferred
  • Performed related work in a senior enlisted or commissioned officer active duty position
