Personal Banker Job Description

The Personal Banker role at CommunityAmerica Credit Union involves building meaningful relationships with members through a consultative approach. Key responsibilities include selling credit union products and services, such as opening new accounts and facilitating lending processes, while delivering a personalized and high-quality member service experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop relationships with current and prospective members through a consultative sales approach, recommending credit union products and services that meet their financial goals.
  • Process financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers, and cashier's checks, while maintaining accurate records.
  • Open deposit and loan products, capturing necessary information in application systems to track member data.
  • Provide information and referrals to members seeking other services, including wealth management, mortgage, insurance, and other departments.
  • Enhance the member experience by greeting members enthusiastically and seeking opportunities to 'surprise and delight' them.
  • Assist members in using and adopting technology, including online and mobile banking platforms.
  • Listen to members' needs, consult on solutions, and resolve complex issues through a can-do approach.
  • Identify potential member fraud situations and follow reporting processes as needed.
  • Meet or exceed individual sales and production goals on a consistent basis.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
  • Promote honest and open communication throughout the credit union.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Two or more years' experience in a financial institution or retail sales position.

  • Member-focused approach with excellent communication skills.
  • Strong sales and consulting skills, with the ability to cross-sell products and services.
  • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in handling transactions and maintaining records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, with proficiency in math and knowledge of financial institution products and services.
