Job Summary

The Veterinary Technician plays a vital role in the AbbVie drug discovery and development process, providing clinical nursing care and research support for lab animals. This position requires a strong understanding of animal husbandry and facility practices, as well as the ability to provide exemplary animal care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts routine veterinary nursing care, including daily activities in the vivarium and providing clinical support for lab animals.
  • Understands and adheres to husbandry and facility practices, ensuring the health and well-being of lab animals.
  • Provides anesthesia support under supervision for procedures such as surgery, dental prophylaxis, and imaging procedures.
  • Conducts routine diagnostic procedures, including collecting and recording data in support of study goals or veterinary care.
  • Documents medical records, GLP forms, and other relevant data, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Provides basic level technical training to colleagues and ensures compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Maintains the veterinary labs area, ensuring a clean and safe working environment.
  • Applies basic computer skills, including data entry and computer-based training modules.
  • Works in compliance with all applicable local, federal, GLP, FDA, and USDA regulations.
