Job Title: Fabrication Estimator

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Fabrication Estimator to join our team at Goodhart Sons, Inc. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and finalizing fabrication estimates based on client requests for quotes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret client drawings, weld symbols, machining symbols, tolerances, specifications, and calculate costs.
  • Take-off material from drawings and secure pricing for all required material with the best possible yield and lowest scrap.
  • Determine and solicit estimates on subcontracted services needed for the estimate.
  • Determine man-hours needed to complete work based on developing a knowledge of company capabilities and past fabrication knowledge.
  • Personally deal with clients, vendors, subcontractors, engineers, and suppliers in person, over the phone, and via email while maintaining the best possible working relationship between GSI and our clients, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Prepare written quote stipulations based on any assumptions made or exclusions taken.
  • Be able to break down large detailing projects into manageable phases.

Requirements:

  • Have at least 5 years or more of estimating experience with metal fabrication (Layout, Sawing, Bending, Burning & Welding operations) or equivalent metal fabrication experience.
  • Understand the material markets used for industrial metals fabrication.
  • Possess strong mathematical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Be highly motivated and possess an extreme attention to detail.
  • Be willing to work overtime.
  • Be proficient with Microsoft Office software products (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
