Job Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Oral Surgery Assistant to assist our doctors in providing exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will have experience as a dental implant coordinator and oral surgery assistant, with a strong understanding of medical terminology and aseptic technique.

Key Responsibilities
  • Treatment Planning: Understand doctor treatment recommendations and develop treatment plans from diagnosis.
  • Patient Communication: Effectively communicate treatment options to patients.
  • Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality of all information in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Operative Field Maintenance: Monitor and maintain an unobstructed operative field using surgical retractors, sponges, and suctioning and irrigating equipment.
  • Sterilization and Equipment Management: Obtain and inspect sterile or nonsterile surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies, and operate sterilizing devices.
  • Patient Monitoring: Monitor patient intra-operative status.
  • Radiology and Documentation: Obtain dental radiographs and digital imaging, and complete patient clinical narratives.
Requirements
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Certifications: BLS certification required or the ability to complete within 1 month of hire, and radiology certification required.
  • Experience: At least one year of related experience preferred.
Skills and Abilities
  • Communication: Basic computer knowledge and basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work well in a team or individually.
  • Critical Thinking: Good judgment and critical thinking skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, vigilance, and meticulous care on the job.
  • Listening Skills: Superior listening skills with the ability to quickly comprehend instructions in emergency situations.
