About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Hospice Music Therapist to join our team at Kaplan. As a Hospice Music Therapist, you will play a vital role in providing music therapy to patients in their final stages of life.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide consistent professional music therapy in accordance with company protocols and accepted certification practices.
  • Effectively inform and educate patients, staff, and facility partners about music therapy.
  • Establish therapy objectives as part of the patient assessment.
  • Plan, review, and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid in the planning of subsequent sessions.
  • Take an active role in sessions by playing instruments, singing, and listening.
  • Encourage patients to take part in the session and support them by responding musically and improvising with music as a reaction to what the client is communicating to give comfort during the last stages of life.
  • Support the patient's creative development and facilitate positive changes in their behavior and well-being.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Music Therapy degree.
  • Current Board certified (MT-BC) credential according to U.S. Certification Board for Music Therapists.
  • State music therapy licensing where required.
  • At least six (6) months of work/education experience with geriatric health care.
  • At least six (6) months of work/education experience with end-of-life/terminal illness health care.
