Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain the grounds of college property, including lawns, flower beds, and walkways.
  • Operate a wide variety of hand tools, power equipment, and vehicles to perform duties.
  • Remove snow from walks, driveways, entrances, fire hydrants, etc.
  • Spread ice-melt on public passage ways to prevent ice buildup.
  • Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs, and water lawn, shrubs, and flower beds.
  • Assist other trades in the maintenance of fences, gates, walls, and walks.
  • Clean out drainage ditches, culverts, window wells, and exterior stairwells.
  • Submit work status, time, and material reports.
  • Maintain an interest in learning new ideas and stay up-to-date with industry developments.
  • Provide excellent customer service and interact effectively with supervisors, customers, and employees.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • New York State Herbicide & Pesticide Applicators License as required by employer.
