About the Job

The Chief Financial Officer reports to the President and CEO of the Alumni Association, providing strategic financial leadership to grow the organization's assets and entrepreneurial spirit.

This is a 100%, 12-month annually renewable appointment in the academic professional personnel series.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage UMAA assets to position the organization for future growth and revenue expansion.
  • Collaborate with the CEO and VP of Marketing and Business Development to identify strategies and implement plans to grow revenue.
  • Provide expert financial guidance on major projects, such as the proposed alumni and friends housing project.
  • Advise the CEO and leadership team on optimal resource allocation to fulfill the UMAA's mission.
  • Support the UMAA Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Finance and Audit Committees in their financial oversight.
Financial Management:
  • Lead the design and execution of UMAA's financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls, ensuring adherence to financial policies and regulations.
  • Direct the annual external audit and tax compliance engagements, ensuring accuracy and transparency.
Human Resources and Administration:
  • Lead HR operations, coordinating with University Human Resources to leverage expertise and capacity.
  • Oversee recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and employee departures, ensuring a positive work environment.
  • Engage legal counsel as needed, managing risks and ensuring compliance.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • Ten (10) years of experience as a professional accountant, preferably in higher education or non-profit settings.
