Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse PT Day Shift-UCHC NJSP

Rutgers University Correctional Health Care is seeking a Part-Time Licensed Practical Nurse for the New Jersey State Prison in Trenton, NJ.

Job Summary:

The primary purpose of the Licensed Practical Nurse position is to provide technical nursing care to assigned patients, perform treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and provide a safe and therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Initiates the admission process and assists with the identification of recurrent health problems, symptoms, and behavioral changes of the resident.
  • Collects pertinent data through observation, interview, and other members of the health team and communicates changes in the resident condition to other resident care providers.
  • Maintains clinical area in clean, neat, safe manner and participates in required counts and cleaning assignments.
  • Adheres to institution and medical unit infection control policies.
  • Maintains current professional skills and continues professional growth to enhance the practice of correctional nursing and the image of the organization.
Requirements:
  • Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing Program.
  • Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey.
  • CPR Certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting preferred.
Work Environment:

As a first responder, must have the physical capacity to perform CPR for at least 10 minutes. Physically able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds).

Special Conditions:

Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements.
