About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time Courtroom Officer at the City of Baytown's Municipal Court. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining order and ensuring the safety of all individuals present in the courtroom.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide security and maintain decorum in the courtroom and adjacent areas while court is in session.
  • Open the courtroom, clear everyone through metal detectors, and make announcements defining decorum and procedures.
  • Provide security for the courtroom and clerk processing area and maintain courtroom decorum per judge's instructions.
  • Take defendants into custody as directed by the judge and transfer them to the jail.
  • Closing and securing the courtroom and adjacent areas after court.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Two years of experience in Law Enforcement.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver's license within 90 days).
  • TCLEOSE certified as a peace officer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Five years of experience in Law Enforcement.
  • Intermediate or Master's Peace Officer Certification.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of court operations, procedures, and arrest laws.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions.
  • Ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public.
