Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the supervision, coordination, and assessment of nursing care within the designated unit.
- Manage and direct unit activities to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery.
- Assist the Department Director in executing Performance Improvement initiatives and adhering to hospital policies.
- Engage in the financial oversight and planning for the unit.
Core Duties Include:
- Participating in departmental performance enhancement projects.
- Conducting interviews and hiring qualified nursing personnel.
- Creating and managing nursing staff schedules.
- Acting as a clinical resource for the nursing team.
- Advocating for nursing staff interests.
- Evaluating and providing feedback on staff performance.
- Handling disciplinary actions, counseling, and professional development for staff.
- Involvement in the financial management of the unit.
- Planning and facilitating staff meetings and in-service training.
- Ensuring clinical activities meet age-specific standards.
- Maintaining accountability for the unit's operations and services.
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements within the department.

Qualifications Required:
- Valid RN license in the state of practice.
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association is mandatory.
- ACLS certification from the American Heart Association to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
- Advanced Nursing Certification to be achieved within 6 months of hire.
- BSN degree is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- 2-3 years of experience in healthcare management is essential.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience in a Progressive Care Unit is required.
