Job Title: BCSO Detention Deputy - Transportation Specialist

Department: Detention Services

Hiring Range: $28.15 - $31.52

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Detention Deputy Transportation Specialist to join our team at Buncombe County. As a key member of our Detention Services department, you will be responsible for the safe and secure transportation of detainees to and from various locations, including state prisons, doctor appointments, and court hearings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transport detainees to and from detention facilities, state prisons, and other locations as assigned
• Ensure the safety and security of detainees during transportation
• Prepare and maintain accurate records of transportation activities
• Participate in training sessions to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as safety, security, and firearms procedures
• Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as required

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of NC BLET Course preferred
• Must be 21 years of age
• Certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with the North Carolina Sheriffs' Training and Standards Commission
• Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina
