Job Summary:The Mental Health Counselor will provide high-quality, trauma-informed therapeutic services and care coordination to a diverse population of at-risk youth or young adults experiencing mental health symptoms, and their families. This role will involve working in residential and community locations, including homes, schools, program offices, psychiatric emergency settings, clinics, crisis residential programs, and/or shelters.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide individualized services to participants, including counseling, case management, and crisis intervention.
- Develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of each participant.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including licensed clinicians, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Conduct assessments and evaluations to identify participant needs and develop effective interventions.
- Provide education and support to participants and their families on mental health issues and coping strategies.
- Document participant progress and maintain accurate records.
- Master's degree in Social Work or Counseling from an accredited college or university.
- Supervised experience in providing counseling services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of risk assessment and effective community-based interventions for high-risk individuals.
- Cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families and communities.
- Ability to respond quickly to emergencies and learn and implement crisis de-escalation training.
- Valid California driver's license and access to dependable transportation.
- Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and/or electronic clinical documentation systems.
- Demonstrated knowledge in diagnostic assessment, crisis management, and individual/family/group behavioral treatment methods for the target population.
- Experience working with program target populations, such as intellectually disabled, homeless, teens, or young adults.
- Experience with program modalities, such as school-based, residential, mobile/community-based, wraparound, etc.
- Ability to assess, triage, and organize work effectively.
- Strength-based, culturally responsive, trauma-informed, and flexible approach to supervision, participant, and community service.
- Familiarity with recovery-model orientation, public mental health and child welfare systems, and/or trauma-informed interventions.
Fred Finch Youth & Family Services is committed to providing exceptional services that promote mental and physical resilience and wellness. We believe in the importance of cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed care in our work with diverse families and communities.
We offer a competitive salary range of $24.81 to $31.66 per hour, payable bi-weekly, as well as an array of benefits, including 21 PTO days per year, 9 nationally observed holidays, 401k matching up to 6%, and a $150 monthly stipend for various use.
