The role of the Material Handler involves executing a range of routine tasks related to the management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Under close supervision, the incumbent will engage in manual labor associated with cleaning, decontamination, and the handling of various materials.
Key Responsibilities:- Efficiently load and unload containers of varying sizes, including totes, drums, and trailers.
- Assemble boxes and fiber containers, ensuring proper labeling and organization.
- Utilize various tools such as shovels and impact wrenches for operational tasks.
- Transport hazardous materials within the facility as directed by supervisors.
- Decontaminate and dispose of empty containers in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
- Assist in the completion of necessary documentation for material processing.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
- Conduct inspections of material handling equipment as required.
- Support the loading and unloading of waste materials at designated locations using appropriate equipment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or GED is required. Previous experience in the hazardous waste or chemical industry, particularly in roles involving forklift operation, is preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential. Candidates should be trained in the operation of material handling equipment.
