Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the Speech Therapist designs, assesses, and implements therapeutic programs for patients requiring speech therapy. Adjusts treatment strategies based on patient progress. The role encompasses both acute care and outpatient adult settings.
Responsibilities:
Conducts patient assessments (initial, progress, and discharge evaluations), formulates treatment plans, offers recommendations, and establishes goals tailored to patient needs and evidence-based practices.
Exhibits knowledge and competency, including addressing age-specific requirements of the served population.
Acts as a resource for support staff and other healthcare team members.
Facilitates training, orientation, and oversight of support personnel.
Takes responsibility for the educational growth of assigned students.
Keeps and updates patient records in compliance with professional, departmental, organizational, and payer standards and timelines. Maintains established benchmarks for chart audit compliance.
Aims to meet set targets for quality/outcome measures, patient satisfaction metrics, financial/productivity indicators, and patient growth measures.
Demonstrates leadership by supervising support staff, participating in professional organizations/meetings, and engaging in community activities such as health events and educational initiatives.
Adheres to policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Completes mandatory educational assignments annually. Strives to achieve organizational goals and participates in quality improvement initiatives as required.
Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
No specific educational requirements; however, must meet the standards for obtaining the necessary licensure and/or certification as mandated by the relevant authority.
Minimum Experience:
No prior experience required.
Licensure Requirement:
Must possess and maintain a valid state license in Speech Pathology or a provisional license as a Clinical Fellow in Speech Pathology. CPR certification is required. Experience with Modified Barium Swallow studies is highly preferred. Certification in vital stimulation and LSVT Loud program is advantageous.
