Job Overview

Position Summary:
As a GCP Cloud Operations Specialist at Xpertbizz, you will engage in a dual capacity, focusing on both the administrative and developmental aspects of the Google Cloud Platform. Your contributions will be essential in overseeing the functionality and reliability of the platform, as well as in crafting analytical operational dashboards and conducting proof of concepts for new GCP services tailored to the organization's requirements. This role also offers opportunities for data engineering development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • GCP Administration (70%):
    Handle administrative functions such as managing user access, creating service accounts, and collaborating with Cloud Security for provisioning and troubleshooting.
  • Oversee the daily performance of GCP services, proactively addressing potential failures or delays in data pipeline execution.
  • Manage service upgrades for GCP offerings like Cloud Composer, working closely with cloud engineering teams to configure and enable GCP services.
  • Ensure data security through PII tagging and authorizations, collaborating with the Compliance team to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical assistance to GCP users, diagnosing issues and resolving errors efficiently.

GCP Development (30%):

  • Guide offshore GCP engineers in supporting development tasks.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines for the deployment of software artifacts.
  • Create performance monitoring dashboards in Looker for Big Query, focusing on slot management and user queries.
  • Collaborate with Platform Architects to develop new capabilities and establish policies for development teams.
  • Conduct proof of concepts for new GCP services, including the latest features of Big Query.
  • Work with Cloud Security to develop security frameworks and perform vulnerability assessments to identify and resolve security issues.
  • Build data engineering pipelines for data ingestion into the GCP Platform and Big Query.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience in administering GCP services such as Cloud Dataflow, Cloud Pub/Sub, Big Query, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Cloud Composer, and DataProc.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes, streaming data, Kafka, APIs, and SQL.
  • Proficient in scripting with Python and using Windows/Unix commands.
  • Experience with CI/CD practices, Git/Jenkins workflows, and the software development lifecycle across multiple environments.
  • Experience in automating service deployments and configuration updates is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of cluster performance tuning and Big Query optimization is a plus.
  • Google Cloud Certification is preferred.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across various teams and with business stakeholders.
