Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Laborer - Underground Utilities Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our crew, you will be responsible for supporting all phases of utility construction for various types of telecom projects. Your duties will include general labor duties related to telecommunications construction, such as placing poles, anchors, and guys, aerial strand and cable, direct buried pipe, trenching cable, conventional and directional boring, placing underground conduit systems, performing inside wiring, cabling, and testing and maintenance services.

Responsibilities
  • Hand dig using shovel, mechanical tools, and other equipment as needed.
  • Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling, including placing poles, anchors, and guys.
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery, such as utility trucks and excavators.
  • Work in congested or remote areas, maintaining visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement.
  • Perform general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor, including setup, preparation, and cleanup of construction sites.
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies.
  • Learn all aspects of crew operations and assist the operator and foreman as assigned.
Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Possess a valid driver's license or be eligible and willing to obtain the required license for the position.
  • Clean driving record (no more than 2 tickets in the last 5 years).
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner.
  • Class A CDL is a plus (higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.
