Overview:
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the Acute Care setting is responsible for delivering patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The LPN plays a crucial role in ensuring both the physical and emotional well-being of patients and their families.
This position involves providing direct patient care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals and performing various tasks to enhance patient care. The scope of practice for LPNs, as defined by the New York State Education Department, outlines the specific duties that the LPN is authorized to perform.
Compensation Range: $27.43 - $35.34
_*The stated pay range reflects the minimum and maximum salary for this position. Individual compensation will be determined based on various factors, including market data, education, experience, qualifications, and internal equity considerations._
Level II Responsibilities:
In addition to the requirements for Level I, the LPN II is expected to:
- Provide mentorship to new hires, including Patient Care Technicians (PCT) and LPN orientees, upon successful completion of the Ancillary Preceptor Course.
- Complete mandatory annual training on preceptor development, gerontology, and earn continuing education credits.
Qualifications:
Education: Must meet the educational criteria for licensure as an LPN in New York State and hold a valid LPN license.
Experience:
- Level II: A minimum of 1 year of experience as an LPN in an acute care hospital or 2 years in long-term care is required.
- Current CPR certification (American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers or American Red Cross BLS) is required upon hire. For CPR renewal, only American Heart Association BLS certification is accepted.
