Paraprofessional Assistant

Role Overview

ESS is seeking a dedicated and supportive Paraprofessional to assist classroom teachers in providing individualized support to students with special needs. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to academic and personal growth, and be able to work collaboratively with teachers and students to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide instructional reinforcement to individual students or small groups, promoting academic and personal growth
• Assist teachers with classroom management and general supervision of the class
• Support administrative duties such as setting up equipment and preparing materials
• Supervise students in various settings, including the cafeteria, schoolyard, and during before and after school programs
• Attend to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs
• Support students with special needs by following provisions specified in their IEPs/504 Plans
• Perform other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration

Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
• Valid NJ criminal history letter
• Negative tuberculosis test obtained within 6 months of initial employment
