Maintenance Assistant Job Description

Kensington Senior Living is seeking a skilled Maintenance Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our buildings and grounds.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, including repairs, renovations, and restorative projects
  • Organize tools, supplies, and equipment to ensure efficient completion of work
  • Assist in taking and recording required readings, including air temperature, energy consumption, and water temperature/pressure
  • Perform scheduled maintenance checks of buildings, grounds, and facilities
  • Respond to emergency situations and carry out assigned role
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work spaces in a clean, orderly, and like-new condition
  • Requisition supplies and equipment as authorized by the Director of Environmental Services
Requirements:
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions
  • Ability to keep accurate records
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and restorative/renovation work
  • General knowledge of mechanical systems and proper use of equipment
  • Valid driver's license and a track record of safely operating motor vehicles
  • High school diploma or equivalent vocational training preferred
  • Certification and/or licenses in trades preferred
Working Conditions:

The Maintenance Assistant will work in a fast-paced environment, requiring the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. The position also requires the ability to push 200 pounds on a cart with casters.
