Perioperative Registered Nurse

As a Perioperative Registered Nurse, you will provide primary nursing support to physicians and patients, assisting in the diagnosis and treatment of patient conditions. You will educate patients, promote understanding of their condition, and adhere to treatment plans. This role functions in a team-oriented environment, with accountability for delivering care utilizing skills learned in the clinic. You will assist other team members on the unit.
Key Responsibilities- Act as clinic lead, overseeing clinic flow and non-provider staff.
- Triage patient sick calls to facilitate appropriate treatment plans with providers.
- Obtain and document patient medical history, chief complaint, vital signs, and provide basic medical data for providers, preparing patients for examinations.
- Oversee chart checks, ensuring all patient-completed testing is available for provider visits.
- Assist providers in procedures as directed, facilitating accurate diagnosis and treatment.
- Monitor staffing levels to ensure appropriate staffing based on clinic needs.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens, completing associated paperwork to expedite laboratory studies with maximum accuracy and efficiency.
- Execute and document ongoing patient communication.
- Provide instruction to ensure patient understanding of medical conditions and compliance with treatment instructions.
- Insert, monitor, regulate, and discontinue IVs as required by providers.
- Administer medications, IV push medications, and topical medications.
- Routinely inspect and observe condition and operation of diagnostic equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation.
Hours: 20 hours per week, 10 hour shifts; rotating start times between 6:00a and 9:00a
Weekends, Major Holidays, and On Call: None
Travel: None
Experience and Certifications: Perioperative experience is strongly preferred; ACLS and PALS (will be required after hire)
