Computer Lab Assistant

Job Summary

The Computer Lab Monitor is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of students and facilities in the computer lab. This role requires vigilance at all times and involves maintaining a secure environment. The Computer Lab Monitor will also provide technical assistance to students enrolled in courses in Graphic Design and Photography, helping them with software and printing needs. However, this role does not involve evaluating or judging student projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe and secure environment in the computer lab.
  • Provide technical assistance to students with their projects.
  • Notify Public Safety in case of emergencies or any questionable activities.
  • Help maintain the facilities and keep printers operational.
  • Enforce lab policies and report any problems to Faculty or Lab Technicians.
  • Encourage students to keep the facilities clean and orderly.
  • Conserve resources by turning off lights, water, equipment, etc. when not needed.
  • Notify Faculty of supply shortages.
  • Enforce student sign-in and sign-out policy.

Requirements
  • Must be a current Barry University student.
  • Must be a Fine Art or Photo major.
  • Must be able to follow instructions well.
  • Must be reliable and responsible.
  • Proficiency in large format color, black and white printing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.

Work Environment
The Computer Lab Monitor may work in a variety of physical conditions, including proximity to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, electrical current, and working on scaffolding and high places. Exposure to chemicals may also be present.
