Job Title: Certified Nursing Assistant

We are seeking a Certified Nursing Assistant to join our team in a newly created 40-bed medical surgical unit. This unit focuses on patients requiring a longer length of stay, and our team consists of geriatrics, nursing, providers, and activities teams working together to promote engagement, health, and morale.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant will perform various service duties and technical tasks, including taking vital signs and assisting patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively in a team environment, and demonstrate a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities:
  • Take vital signs and assist patients with basic hygiene and activities of daily living
  • Perform various service duties and technical tasks as assigned by the Registered Professional Nurse
  • Work effectively in a team environment to promote patient engagement, health, and morale
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals
Requirements:
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant by the State of Maine and be on the State of Maine Registry
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English in order to follow oral or written instructions and complete standard forms
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic calculations
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain courteous relationships with patients, families, visitors, and healthcare professionals
