Clinical Risk Management Coordinator - RN

As a Clinical Risk Management Coordinator RN, you will be tasked with supervising a variety of initiatives focused on risk mitigation and compliance within nursing and clinical sectors. This role is pivotal in ensuring that risk management events are reviewed, investigated, and resolved in a timely manner. Your expertise will be essential in fostering relationships through exceptional customer service while upholding evidence-based practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead peer review processes within nursing and clinical departments
  • Oversee the initial assessment, investigation, and resolution of risk events
  • Deliver on-the-spot education to staff when discrepancies are noted
  • Conduct compliance tracers to meet regulatory standards
  • Perform patient and unit rounds
  • Execute proactive risk evaluations and thorough analyses, including Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Implement High Reliability Organization (HRO) principles in all activities
  • Organize meetings, prepare agendas, and document minutes
  • Extract data from medical records for risk and quality metrics
  • Input data into relevant databases
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary teams to enhance outcomes
  • Ensure proper documentation is completed on current patient records
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and confidence with stakeholders
  • Support hospital certification and accreditation initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations
  • Assist in accreditation or regulatory evaluations
  • Perform additional duties as required
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
  • Understanding of clinical processes and healthcare documentation
  • Proficiency in Google Docs/Sheets, Microsoft Word, and Excel
  • Strong communication and analytical thinking abilities
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks and engage in critical thinking
  • Familiarity with Google Slides and/or PowerPoint
Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
  • Awareness of regulatory compliance and accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, The Joint Commission)
Required Behavioral Competencies:
  • Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence
Minimum Education and Experience:
  • Graduate from an accredited Registered Nursing program or possession of a Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field
  • Five years of clinical experience
Required License/Certification:
  • Current RN license in good standing in the State of Kansas or a Compact License State
Preferred License/Certification:
  • Certification as a Healthcare Quality Professional (CPHQ) or Healthcare Accreditation Certified Professional (HACP)
