We are seeking a highly skilled Meat Cutter Specialist to join our team at Whole Foods Market. As a key member of our meat department, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest quality of meat products for our customers.
Key Responsibilities- Meat Cutting and Preparation: Break down beef, pork, lamb, and poultry into retail cuts, and prepare specialty meat merchandise such as sausage, oven-ready products, and cured meats.
- Seafood Handling: Cut, platter, and merchandise all varieties of seafood, and fillet and debone fish and crack shellfish upon request.
- Product Preparation and Display: Prepare, package, weigh, and price meat and seafood products for sale, and maintain a visually appealing display of products.
- Inventory Management: Receive, unload, and put-away product delivery, and check product to ensure it meets WFM quality standards.
- Sampling and Quality Control: Maintain a sampling program, monitor and assist in preventing spoilage, and set and achieve the highest standards of retail execution.
- Team Leadership: Foster and encourage a positive environment of outstanding teamwork, mutual respect, and exceptional morale, and select, train, develop, mentor, motivate, and counsel Team Members in a manner that sustains a high-performance team and minimizes turnover.
- Customer Service: Maintain awareness of customer flows and needs, and direct Team Members as necessary to satisfy and delight customers, and respond promptly to customer needs and questions.
- Working Understanding: Working understanding of multi-team processes and procedures.
- Cutting Skills: Excellent cutting skills with the ability to break down product into sub-primal and retail cuts.
- Product Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of different cuts and cooking techniques of meat and seafood.
- Visual Examination: Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, motivational, team building, and customer relationship skills.
- Leadership Skills: Demonstrated decision-making ability, leadership skills, and ability to prioritize and delegate.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with operations-related applications.
- Lifting: Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
- Standing and Walking: In an 8-hour work day, standing/walking 6-8 hours.
- Hand Use: Single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
- Motions: Bending, twisting, squatting, and reaching.
- Environmental Conditions: Exposure to FDA-approved cleaning chemicals, temperatures 90 degrees Fahrenheit, and ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
- 14+ Months Retail Experience: 14+ months retail experience.
