Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at Yoakum Community Hospital. As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will work under the direction of and as an assistant to the Physical Therapist, administering physical therapy treatments to patients.
Key Responsibilities- Administer exercises and therapeutic massages to patients
- Instruct, motivate, and assist patients and caregivers to learn and improve functional activities such as perambulation, transfers, and daily living activities and home exercise programs
- Observe patients during treatments and compile and interpret data on patients' responses to treatments and progress, reporting orally or in writing to the Physical Therapist
- Fits patients for, adjusts, and trains patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces, prostheses, and assistive devices such as crutches, canes, walkers, and wheelchairs
- Demonstrate competency in all procedures within the scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of the patients served, and obtain and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs
- Confers with the Director of Physical Therapy to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs
- Perform clerical and housekeeping duties within the department, as necessary
- Maintain licensure and professional expertise through on-site and off-site continuing education
- Address complaints and resolve problems as necessary in the Director's absence
- Supervise aides and volunteers in compliance with related guidelines, rules, and regulations
- Associate's degree (A.A.) from an accredited college or university in a Physical Therapy Assistant program
- Current CPR certification
- Six (6) months to one (1) year related experience and/or training
