Job Summary

Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH) is seeking a skilled Physical Therapist to join our Inpatient Rehabilitation Services team. As a Staff Physical Therapist - Acute Care, you will provide high-quality patient care in accordance with state licensing regulations, departmental standards, and accepted professional standards of care.

Responsibilities
  • Examine and evaluate patient physical therapy needs, developing treatment plans with treatment goals to maximize function.
  • Demonstrate competency in clinical knowledge and skills specific to patient case types in assigned areas of care.
  • Consult with healthcare team members to ensure coordination and effectiveness of therapies provided.
  • Manage patient caseloads assigned, prioritizing and monitoring admissions, referrals, and discharges.
  • Participate in activities promoting professional development, including departmental meetings and continuing education programs.
  • Supervise aides, students, and other support personnel as needed.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited physical therapy program.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice physical therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
Working Conditions

Work in hospital environments with exposure to blood/body fluids/hazardous materials, communicable diseases, and unpleasant odors. Physical effort required for lifting, transferring, and positioning patients and equipment may result in musculoskeletal strain or injury with improper body mechanics.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Assist with supervision and education of student PTs, PT assistants, and aides.

Fiscal Responsibilities
  • Enter patient charges accurately and timely, supported by medical documentation.
  • Manage hospital and department equipment in a cost-efficient manner.

Work within legal, regulatory, accreditation, and ethical practice standards relevant to the position and as established by BWH/Partners. Follow safe practices required for the position, comply with BWH and Partners policies and procedures, and fulfill any training required by BWH and/or Partners.
