Job Overview

Position: Overnight Technician at St. Louis Heart and Vascular

SUMMARY: The overnight technician operates under general supervision to deliver device monitoring and call services across all SLHV locations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Continuously monitor cardiac rhythms and report any alterations to the designated physician.
    • Assess, interpret, and document cardiac rhythms accurately.
    • Reach out to patients who are not transmitting data or exhibiting non-compliance.
    • Provide troubleshooting assistance via phone or arrange for in-person troubleshooting sessions.
    • Enter patient data into the Arrhythmia/Centricity system.
  • Maintain and document the inventory of all MCT/Holter monitors as necessary.
  • Oversee incoming data from patients with implanted cardiac devices.
  • Function as a call center for all SLHV offices during after-hours.
    • Register new patients in the mobility system.
    • Handle urgent STEMI calls and direct them to the appropriate on-call physician.
    • Prioritize after-hour calls to the relevant on-call NP/physician.
    • Respond to device alerts promptly.
    • Assist patients in scheduling or canceling appointments and inform the relevant office of any changes.
    • Monitor security for SLHV offices during off-hours through remote surveillance.
  • Keep track of the hospital's ongoing patient census.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • High school diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Strong understanding of arrhythmia fundamentals is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of telemetry experience is required.
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays is necessary.
  • Proficient computer skills are required, with a preference for experience in electronic medical records (EMR).
  • Exceptional customer service abilities are a must.
  • Willingness to travel between main SLHV locations is required.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously are essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Self-motivated individuals are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Multilingual abilities and knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) are advantageous.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Standard medical office setting.
  • Must be capable of walking, sitting, bending, and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Flexibility and willingness to work overtime as required.
