African Communities Together is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Canvasser in West Philadelphia. As a Canvasser, you will play a crucial role in engaging African/Black Diaspora voters and encouraging them to make their voices heard in the upcoming election.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct door-to-door outreach and high-density area canvassing to speak with African/Black community voters about the election
  • Track conversation results using MiniVAN
  • Engage with voters on relevant issues that may arise during conversations
  • Perform data entry and record-keeping tasks
  • Attend daily check-ins and prepare reports
  • Other duties as assigned by the Lead Canvasser and Campaign Consultant

Requirements:

  • Ability to live in, commute to, or relocate to the Greater Philadelphia area
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and a smartphone capable of operating MiniVAN
  • Strong verbal communication skills to effectively engage with a diverse range of African immigrants
  • Previous canvassing or organizing experience is preferred, but not required
  • Cultural competence and significant experience working with African immigrant communities or in the social justice sector
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Fluency in a widely spoken African language is a plus
