The American Federation of Musicians and Employers' Pension Fund (AFM-EPF) is a defined benefit multi-employer pension plan for members of the American Federation of Musicians.

It's essential to carefully review this opportunity before submitting your application.

We strive to maintain accurate and timely accounting data for AFMEPF. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with two other accountants in standardizing practices and procedures. They must possess excellent problem-solving and time management skills, supporting various aspects of the financial cycle and assisting in the annual audit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee accounts payable process and ensure correct financial records are maintained
  • Process remote bank deposits for daily received checks
  • Process Locals annual agreement for remitting pension payments to the Fund
  • Prepare a monthly schedule for returned checks, bank charges, and statement discrepancies
  • Reconcile Trustees expenses
  • Prepare monthly reconciliation for all other expense accounts
  • Prepare yearly analysis of legal expenses and activities for budget reporting
  • Respond to information requests in support of the annual audit
  • Serve as backup for other Accountants during their absence
  • Miscellaneous specific fund reporting or projects requested by Accounting Manager or Director of Finance

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of proven experience as a Staff Accountant or similar role
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, etc.)
  • Knowledge and ability to use Business Central or similar ERP accounting software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and conceptual skills required
