Key Responsibilities:- Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct thorough assessments to determine the nature and extent of clients' substance use and addiction issues. Diagnose substance use disorders using standardized criteria and tools. Develop personalized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling using evidence-based practices for addiction treatment.
Utilize therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), and relapse prevention strategies. Support clients in developing skills for sobriety, stress management, and coping with triggers.
Address emergency situations involving clients in crisis due to substance use or addiction-related issues. Provide immediate support and intervention to ensure client safety and stability. Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to coordinate crisis care.
Case Management:
Coordinate services and resources for clients, including medical, psychiatric, and social services. Advocate for clients to ensure they receive appropriate care and support. Monitor and evaluate client progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Education and Prevention:
Educate clients and their families about substance use disorders, treatment options, and recovery strategies. Conduct community outreach and prevention programs to raise awareness about addiction and available resources. Stay informed about the latest research and developments in addiction counseling and treatment.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including assessment reports, treatment plans, and progress notes. Prepare and submit required documentation and reports in a timely manner. Ensure compliance with all legal and ethical standards in documentation and practice.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current and valid LCAC license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervised clinical experience in addiction counseling.
- Strong knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and evidence-based practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
