Job Summary:

Sycamores provides a range of equitable mental health services through various programs to diverse populations. Our focus is on providing care to low-income, high-risk youth. As a Youth Specialist, you will provide care, supervision, and behavioral interventions that develop coping and problem-solving skills, teach social skills, and promote their transfer into the home, school, and community. These interventions are provided to youth in our residential programs and are developed within the collaborative planning process and prescribed by the program.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide care, supervision, and behavioral interventions to youth in residential programs
  • Develop and implement individualized plans to promote youth development and well-being
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques as needed
  • Document and maintain accurate records of youth progress and interventions
Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or AA degree with one year of direct care experience required; two years of direct care experience preferred, OR Bachelor's degree plus one year of direct care experience preferred
  • Maintains all required licenses and certifications
  • Valid California Driver License and a driving record acceptable to the Agency's insurance carrier
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to physically manage and/or de-escalate consumers/residents
  • Ability to practice physical intervention for safety of consumers according to training and policy
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Frequent driving in the community with consumers
  • Frequent/continuous intermittent standing/walking, occasional/intermittent sitting
  • Continuous use of bilateral upper extremities in fine motor activities requiring fingering, grasping, and forward reaching between waist and chest level
  • Reaching at or above shoulder level may be necessary
  • Bending, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, twisting, and climbing
  • Occasional/intermittent lifting and carrying objects/equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Continuous use of near vision, hearing, and verbal communication skills in handling telephone calls, interacting with customers and co-workers, and performing job duties
  • Requires physical presence in the office during shift
