The Prototype Planning Group Leader - Budget/Global Purchasing is a critical role within American Honda Motor Co Inc, responsible for overseeing a team of buyers and planners who support 4MOC development activity. This position also manages a resource management group that creates, manages, and reports prototype parts budgets for development projects and department-level manpower and indirect budgets.
Key Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Mentor and train associates within the group on problem-solving, creation of procedures, and countermeasure implementation while fostering development.
- Resource Allocation: Provide daily group associate operation direction, ensuring completion of critical outputs, and direct daily resource application prioritization.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure staff compliance with required training, safety protocols, and HDMA associate policies, including proper recording of working hours and out-of-office reporting.
- Forecasting and Budgeting: Create and manage current and long-term prototype part budgets for HDMA development models, adapting to changes in market conditions, line-up variations, and new technologies.
- Contract Management: Manage contracts issued by the group to ensure profitability and budget adherence, correlating with development team leadership regarding prototype parts budgets for presentation and evaluation.
- Performance Reporting: Provide written, verbal, and presentation documents to report group, unit, department, and overall organizational performance, measuring the effectiveness of strategic directives and key performance indicators.
- Process Improvement: Liaison with IS for creation of digital dashboards for evaluating workload, project status, and overall department KPI creation and maintenance.
- Education: An undergraduate or graduate-level degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience: 8 or more years of related demonstrable experience covering contracts administration and reviewing, purchasing, and managing teams, preferably in the automotive and/or commercial aviation sector.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and leadership abilities, and proficiency in budgeting and forecasting tools.
