Job Summary

A Collision Paint Technician I is responsible for refinishing damaged auto parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with Original Equipment (OE) Factory and related Toyota Technical Information System (TIS) systems quality specifications and time standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality requirements.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA Right-to-Know.
  • Safely operate equipment and tools, and assist with filing, grinding, sanding, masking, prepping surfaces, cleaning, mixing, and adjusting/matching color to OE specifications.
  • Use various hand and powered tools when prepping and painting a vehicle to OE specifications.
  • Cooperate and assist other personnel in the repair and inspection of vehicles.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus, 0-3 years related experience as a collision paint technician with sheet metal and interior collision repair experience.
  • Experience with refinishing/refinishing preparation, plastic repair and priming.
  • Ability to prep, paint parts and buff defects and perform quality checks.
  • Demonstrate mechanical skills.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions on repair/estimate orders.
  • Is able to communicate effectively in English - orally and in writing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and other job-related software applications.
  • Ability to work independently and is self-motivated.
Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend written and oral English instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively discuss information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential responsibilities of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.
