Position: Charge Nurse – Emergency Department
The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising all nursing functions associated with patient care within the Emergency Department. This role includes establishing standards for precise documentation of patients' symptoms, responses, and progress, as well as coordinating patient care to ensure it aligns with clinical nursing requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee nursing staff and ensure adherence to best practices in patient care.
- Maintain a high level of clinical competency by providing direct nursing care as needed.
- Foster a collaborative environment among healthcare team members, patients, and their families.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety standards in the delivery of care.
Qualifications:
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program; preference for candidates with a baccalaureate or master's degree in Nursing.
- Must hold a valid nursing license in Illinois.
- Two to five years of relevant clinical experience in a healthcare setting.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
- Completion of a basic EKG competency course and proficiency in telemetry patient care.
- Previous experience in a charge nurse capacity or similar leadership role is preferred.
- Proficient in basic life support and IV administration techniques.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
