Job Summary

Nuvance Health, a leading healthcare provider, is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our team. As a Diagnostic Imaging Specialist, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI exams following established protocols to produce high-quality images using advanced imaging techniques.
  • Operate and maintain MRI equipment, including laser cameras, fluoroscopic equipment, and contrast injectors, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
  • Administer and store contrast agents, including barium, iodinated oral contrast, and intravenous contrast agents, in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including patient history, exam title, demographics, and modality-specific questionnaires and screening tools.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, providing clear instructions and minimizing anxiety, while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
  • Apply safety principles to minimize risks to patients, staff, and others, adhering to established standards such as ALARA, Image Gently, and MRI safety.
  • Conduct ongoing patient assessments, monitoring patient conditions and providing physical or psychological support as needed, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Participate in modality-specific QA/QC procedures to ensure equipment operates within manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
  • Assume responsibility for assigned areas, ensuring rooms are clean, stocked with supplies, and meet established standards.
  • Contribute to the efficient operation of the department through effective communication with lead technologists, training staff, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy and proficiency with HIS, RIS, PACS, and ancillary CAD applications.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve issues and improve departmental operations.
Requirements
  • Graduate from an AMA-approved school of Radiologic Technology with additional training in MRI scanning.
  • 1 year of experience in MRI scanning, with A.R.R.T. (MR) certification and NYS DOH IV certification preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform duties, with occasional heavy lifting and standing.
Working Conditions

This role requires working in a dynamic healthcare environment, with occasional exposure to dirt, odors, noise, and human waste. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team-oriented setting, with a strong commitment to patient safety and satisfaction.
